Another one in the books. I think this was #4 for me. 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 cancelled due to COVID. This year it was shortened from Evergreen to Vail (vs Avon), so only 110 miles, but still over 10k feet of climbing.
I hardly trained this year and still finished with a sub 9:25 hr moving time; I think I spent about 2 hours not moving at rest stops though. I think this just proves that it’s more of a mental vs. physical challenge. I ran into an old work friend handing out Fireball shots on the side of Sapphire Point and took FULL advantage of just about every aid station.
The best part of the day was seeing Meg and Bennett at the finish line in Vail. They have no idea how hard that day was and how psyched I was to see them before crossing the finish.
I think I’ll be training for 2022…
